The boat design is driven by efficiency, both in use and in fabrication. The goal was to design the fastest boat shape while making it as light as possible. This is achieved through the bending of plywood around key sectional frames, all the pieces of which were designed in Rhino and cut with a CNC. When plywood is bent, it becomes much stronger and produces a very smooth form. This property was essential to make the lightest and fastest boat. It was then waterproofed with rope as caulking and two coats of epoxy.
Because my design was chosen to be built by my studio, my responsibilities in the project included producing the design, producing the drawings, and leading the team in the boat’s fabrication and construction.
